A LETTER TO OUR SPACE OASIS ARTISTS!

PLEASE READ!

We couldn’t be more thrilled to have you performing at this year’s Space Oasis Music Festival! Each of you was handpicked based on your style, sound, and reputation—and when we say reputation, we mean more than just your music.

We’ve been in the scene for over 30 years, and while we’ve stepped back from the grind, we throw this event once a year to stay connected to the music and the people we love. To us, this isn’t just a festival—it’s church. That means we only want to be around good people who bring good vibes.

We have two very strict rules:

✅ No drama

✅ No egos or attitudes

We’re here to have an amazing weekend with amazing people. This is not a contest—it’s a celebration of music. If that speaks to you, then you’re in the right place!

No Guest List

Every single person who isn’t crew or artists, who is on-site must purchase a ticket—no exceptions. Our venue, Justisen Ranch, has a strict 250-person cap before requiring a large event permit.

Why does this matter?

This 250-person cap includes everyone—artists, crew, and attendees. Large event permits for more than 250 people at Justisen Ranch are only available every 90 days, and Shift Festival already takes the permit for July. That means we cannot go over 250 people—period.

Why can’t we do plus-ones?

The venue charges us $45 per person for the weekend, no matter who they are—artist, crew, or festival-goer. That’s the non-negotiable deal we have with them.

Let’s do some quick math:

• If we gave all 40 DJs a +1, that’s 40 extra people for a total of 80 people.

• If we did the same for our 20-person crew, that’s another 40 people

• That’s 120 people total, which means:

• $5400 we’d owe the ranch

• 120 fewer tickets available to sell

And that’s on top of the existing costs of running this festival. The truth is, we already operate at a fine line between breaking even and losing money just to make Space Oasis happen. Every ticket sale matters.

We’re not trying to be harsh, we just need to be realistic and fair. We appreciate your understanding and support in making this festival sustainable so we can keep doing it year after year.

Basic Professional DJ Etiquette

🎛 Play Sober (or at least not wasted!)

• Show up clear-headed and focused—get wild after your set. Trust us, you don’t sound as good as you think when you’re trashed.

🔊 Respect the Sound System

• No redlining the mixer. If you push into the red, we’ll warn you once. Do it again, and your set is over. No excuses.

• Why? It ruins speakers. We don’t have spare drivers, and if they blow, the party’s over for everyone.

🚫 NO DRINKS NEAR THE EQUIPMENT.

• We shouldn’t have to say this, but here we are. If you spill a drink on the mixer, CDJs, or cables, the entire setup could be fried—and replacing it is not an option.

• Keep your drinks on a separate table and far away from the gear. If we see drinks on or around the DJ booth, they will be removed immediately and you will be warned.  A second time… well, you can guess.

This is a professional setup, and we expect everyone to treat it with care. Respect the gear, respect the sound, and let’s all have an amazing weekend.

Payment

We completely understand that it costs money to travel to the event, and we genuinely appreciate the time and energy each of you puts into making this festival special. Space Oasis started as a private gathering of friends, where everyone chipped in—both financially and physically—to make it happen. As it has grown into a public event, the financial stakes have grown with it.

The reality is, this festival is a labor of love, not a money-making venture. Every year, we personally invest tens of thousands of dollars just to bring it to life. Our goal is simple: to break even. If ticket sales don’t cover costs, we take the loss ourselves. If we do make a profit, that money doesn’t go into our pockets—it goes right back into the festival: better sound, better décor, better infrastructure—making each year better for everyone.

That said, we want to take care of our artists as best we can. If we sell out this year, we’ll personally give every DJ $100 for gas as a token of appreciation. It’s our way of saying thank you for being a part of this journey and helping to make Space Oasis thrive.

We’re doing everything we can to make this festival sustainable for the long haul, and that means every ticket sale counts. Your support—through your performances, promotion, and participation—is what keeps this event alive. We are beyond grateful to have you on board and look forward to sharing an unforgettable weekend together under the stars.
